Barbara has over 25 years experience in governance, and executive management in government and non government organisations in the Health, Environment, and Social services sectors. Her professional roles have included as Executive Director of a National association of health, aged care and community assets. She has also governed, managed and delivered services addressing mental illness, family violence and sexual abuse in metropolitan and regional Queensland, ACT and Victoria.
This experience is complemented by a significant Non Executive portfolio. This currently includes as Director of the Board of "Headspace" - the National Youth Mental Health Foundation Ltd, and Chair of its Clinical Governance, Evaluation and Research Committee, and Director Austin Metropolitan Health Service, Victoria where for the past 6 years she has also chaired that Board's Community Advisory Committee.
Having successfully managed her own career across diverse professional roles, sectors and geographic locations, she draws on this experience in mentoring executives in public and community organisations. Barbara is well placed to support their leadership, career and personal development aspirations, including offering guidance in the development of a governance portfolio. Barbara has strong networks and knowledge relating to community and government agencies - State and Commonwealth.
Barbara consults in social policy and practice - strategic planning, service development, evaluation and research and in education for cultural change. Her clients have included State Departments of Justice, Education and Health and not for profit organisations in Victoria and interstate such as the AFL and MIND Australia. She has tertiary qualifications in Management and Social Work and is a Graduate Member of the AICD. Walking, travel, sharing food and wine with her husband, family and friends contributes to the balance in Barbara's life.
